School Profile

At Stockdale Road Primary School our core purpose is to develop adaptable, responsible, positive and innovative members of a global and changing world.

We believe that every child is capable of outstanding achievements and that every child has the right to an education that unlocks their potential.

Stockdale Road was established in 1951 and currently has a student enrolment of 400. Located approximately 160 kilometres east of Melbourne, the school is situated in a quiet, safe residential area within walking distance of the Central Business District with its recreational facilities and cultural venues. It is in close proximity to four Pre-Schools and the Secondary College. We are one of four Government Primary Schools in the Traralgon area.

Stockdale Road is a school with many generations of families having begun their educational journey with us and established a proud tradition over the years, with particular linkages to past and present teachers.

The buildings and grounds have undergone extensive improvements over recent years both internally and externally to create an innovative educational environment for students.

Classrooms are sited in three wings off central courtyards providing safe and easy access for students, parents and visitors. Spacious grounds provide a pleasant treed environment with quiet shady areas, adventure playgrounds, large grassed areas and oval, sand pits and ample asphalt areas.

The school facilities include eighteen classrooms, an administration area, a library and ICT centre, well equipped art room, multi-purpose room, music room, language room, music tutoring room and new toilets.

Stockdale Road has developed a solid foundation of policies and processes which through consistent application have assisted to establish:

Positive and constructive learning outcomes for students

Student behaviour that promotes self esteem, student resilience, independence and fosters cooperation between students and staff; and

A sense of pride in our students to promote a positive image of the school within the community.

The school caters for students from Prep to Year 6, offering a seven year sequential program based on the Victorian Essential Learning Standards. Specialist teachers provide Library, Art, Music, Drama, ICT, Reading Recovery, Special Assistance, English as a Second Language (ESL) and Tutoring Assistance Program (An Even Start).

The school also facilitates Band and individual tutoring in guitar and keyboards. Enrichment programs include swimming, Life Education, Clubs, Leadership Programs, Inter-school sport and camps. In recent years the school has significantly expanded the use of information and communication technology into all facets of the classroom and school operations.

Parents are encouraged to participate in the school activities through assistance in the classrooms, hot food days, school council, musical activities and camps and the Community Head lice Program.

Stockdale Road Primary School is committed to maximizing the learning potential and educational opportunities for all students by providing professional, highly skilled and dedicated staff, support services, quality programs and encouraging cooperation and involvement of parents and the wider community.
