School Profile
Stockdale Road Primary School (established in 1951) has a school population of over 350 students and a school culture where staff and parents work in partnership to help our children develop to their full potential - academically, socially and physically. We are dedicated to providing the best educational outcomes for each student in a safe, supportive and happy environment.
Located in Traralgon, 160 kilometres east of Melbourne, the school is situated in a quiet, safe residential area within walking distance of the Central Business District with its recreational facilities and cultural venues. It is in close proximity to four kindergartens and two secondary colleges.
Classrooms are sited in three wings off two central courtyards providing safe and easy access for students, parents and visitors. Spacious grounds provide a pleasant treed environment with a fitness track, quiet shady areas, adventure playground, large grassed areas and oval, sand pits and ample seating and asphalt areas that include new netball and basketball courts.

The school facilities include fifteen classrooms, an administration area, a fully automated new library/ technology centre, a spacious well-equipped art room, a very large functional multi-purpose room, a toilet block and a canteen. We have undergone a major upgrade that includes six new large classrooms, a new infant toilet block, a new administration block and new art room.
Students are encouraged to be active participants in their learning and are encouraged to take responsibility for their decisions. A pleasant, caring and stimulating learning environment is fostered by activities which promote self-esteem, teamwork, leadership, independence, problem-solving, self discipline, responsibility, tolerance and respect. Within this learning environment, there is a strong emphasis on the development of Mathematical, English, Information Technology, Artistic and Leadership skills.
Grade sizes range from 19 in the Preps to 27 in the 5/6’s. Specialist and support programs are provided in Library/ICT, Art/Craft, Disabilities and Impairment, Reading Recovery, Literacy Intervention, German, Physical Education and Music.

Our pupil welfare and social skills programs provide a consistent structure in which the teachers' right to teach and the students' right to learn are acknowledged and maintained. Programs such as You Can Do It , Peer Support, Cross- Age tutoring, Junior School Council, Lunchtime Activities and Principal Awards help to promote leadership skills and a positive attitude towards school and fellow students.
Parent participation is a feature of our school. Parent support for classroom programs, the musical, sporting activities, instrumental music and camps reflects an acknowledgment of the school's broadly based policies and programs and the friendly atmosphere within our school.
Our goal is to help our students become literate, numerate and socially competent
life-long learners.
